So the most anticipated game for PC has finally been released for PC! Whoohhooo! That is if you can get it to install and work properly.
On the day of release of GTA V, there are some issues that could cause some serious issues which seem to permanent. If you haven’t pre-ordered you copy or installed your copy of GTA V, there are just a few things to know. One of the most damaging issue is trying to transfer your online progress in the game from one of the old consoles(PS3 or Xbox) you will encounter irreversible issues.
If you haven’t sat down and played some GTA V on your older gen consoles since Dec 2013, you will need to log in onto your character before transferring your online progress to PC, which seems to be a daunting task on its own. To do so, please read this topic which will show how to go about transferring your online profiles.
Another notable issue is that if your Windows user account name makes us of your non-standard characters, you will not be able to connect to their servers for the day-one compulsory update. See this page for more information.
Some errors have been reported with the installation and access the Social Club. Here is a list:
- “A newer version of Social Club is required. The updater may have failed. Please exit the game and install the latest version of the Social Club.”
- “Social Club failed to initialize.”
- “Social Club failed to load due to an incomplete installation. Please exit the game and re-install the latest version of the Social Club.”
What makes it a bit more annoying and frustrating. If for some unknown reason you decided not to install Windows Media Player on your machine, the installation of Grand Theft Auto V will not continue until installation is done.
So, just wait a while and maybe Rockstar will fix all these issues for a more pleasant experience of the game.
